Hurting Bodies Need Loving, Too: Pain, Illness, Nausea, Trauma, and Sex

This session will explore the way individuals with chronic pain, illness, and nausea navigate sex and their sexuality, and the ways in which these chronic conditions impact sexual pleasure, desire, libido, and more. Panelists will breakdown the sometimes dichotomous relationship between being a sexual being and living with chronic conditions and how they personally experience this in their lives. The panel will also delve into the larger structure of the medical industrial complex perceives the sexuality of disabled persons, and how this is further impacted by race, gender, and sexual orientation. Presenters will also share methods of making sex more feasible for people with chronic pain, sex toys that can aid in exploration, and other ways to engage in sexuality while in pain, experiencing nausea, or illness.
