Mary Durden

Mary is driven by issues at the intersections of economic, gender, and racial justice and is committed to uplifting survivors of oppression. At Ibis, she manages the communications, coalition building, and policy efforts for Free the Pill, a national campaign working toward making a birth control pill available over the counter in the US. She also organizes a research project focused on improving affirming and inclusive abortion and contraceptive care for transgender and gender expansive individuals. Prior to joining Ibis, Mary spent two years at the National Network of Abortion Funds where she supported staff, board members, and abortion funds across the US as the Operations and Outreach Manager. She currently volunteers with the Boston Abortion Support Collective, a person-of-color-led initiative that provides free, compassionate support for individuals experiencing abortion. Mary holds Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Gender and Women’s Studies from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and Wellesley College, respectively.
